World-Class Action Sports Competition Awards Twenty Seven Medals to Athletes Represented by Ten Countries

Four of the Medals Awarded to One Athlete; Kia World Extreme Games Concludes Today with Skateboard Street, BMX Mini Mega and Men’s Speed Climbing

Shanghai, China — As promised, Kia World Extreme Games delivered on so many levels as the event opened at the Oriental Pearl Tower and concluded today at Jiangwan Stadium. New venues, new courses and new talent were all part of the event’s success as it expanded to eight days in three venues with more than 75,000 fans in attendance. History was made during the event with Australia’s Vince Byron landing two tricks that have never been done before on the vert and the mini mega giving him the title of most winning gold medalist in the history of Kia World Extreme Games with six gold medals in three years. The event saw several ‘firsts’ in the event history with skateboarder Alana Smith becoming the first female to compete alongside the men in Mini Mega, first time the event has moved downtown where vert competition took place in front of the Oriental Pearl Tower and the event welcomed the debut of the Asian Skate Street Invitational opening doors to talent from Asian countries.

The Kia World Extreme Games is the most prestigious multi-event, action sports competition worldwide, and will be staged in Shanghai, China for the ninth time since 2007.

After having been successfully held in Shanghai for eight years, Kia World Extreme Games was regarded as Shanghai’s annual top 12 international events in 2014, together with F1 Chinese Grand Prix and Shanghai Rolex Masters etc.

Nearly 200 best action sport athletes from almost 30 countries and regions will compete in BMX freestyle, skateboarding, speed climbing and International freestyle Motocross (FMX) competition at 2 venues: Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower (Vert Finals) and KIC Jiangwan Sports Centre (other Competitions)

Action sport big names, including Vince Byron, Trey Wood, Jimmy Wilkins and Filipe Gustavo etc. are confirmed to come and compete. Also, BMX legend Mat Hoffman will appear on-site as event ambassador and head judge for BMX category.

Considered the pinnacle of global action sports competition, the Kia World Extreme Games in Shanghai will be televised live across Asia, and delayed broadcast worldwide. Kia Motors is the Title Sponsor of the event.
